Growing up, the houses I spent the most time in were sided with wood shingles. Ours was green. At 13, we moved into a white vinyl-sided house; leaving our secluded family home at the mercy of local kids, and eventually losing it in a fire. Heartbroken, I managed to salvage one singed green shingle. In Cape Breton, a number of homes still retain their unique and coloured exteriors, but more and more I see these shingles being covered up and lost. Each new Polaroid I take captures part of our history and my childhood.
