What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. My neighborhood is called brookside.
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
My block is pretty quiet, but walk a few feet and you're in one of Tulsa's main streets. Its loud, busy, has bars and shops. There are many larger houses in Brookside with people who aren't necessarily the coolest, but there are also lots of smaller houses with a great amount of very cool, down to earth people. I love my neighbors. My street is a peaceful street to live on, lots of beautiful trees.
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
I have lived here for all 21 years of my life. I was brought here by my parents car after a few weeks in the hospital.
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
I love how much art and culture are embedded in the city itself. There is a small but amazing music scene. We have beautiful parks, a public skatepark, a gorgeous greenhouse, and even an art car parade.
I don't like the lack of activities to partake in. It seems like everything closes at 11PM, unless you are a heavy drinker. Not many national bands come through town, but the ones that come through are usually cool enough to get to know personally.
Do you feel that you belong there?
I don't really know if I do or not. I have not lived anywhere else. I feel like I need a bigger place where I could take my music to another level, but I sure wouldn't mind if I ended up here.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
People tend to think we are all hicks in Oklahoma. Well...we are not. I host a radio show, skateboard, and play hip hop. I was in California and someone actually asked me if we had cars.
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
Well, you'll just have to move here and see.
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
The small town feel in a big city. Its a beautiful thing.
