I love Fall in the Pacific Northwest!!

What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
I live in the beautiful city of Bellingham, Washington. Our neighborhood is Pacific Rim on the North end of the city.
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
Spectacular, scenic, liberal, treehugging, mostly retirement/golfing area. The city has mountains on one side and Bellingham bay (which leads out to the Pacific Ocean)on the other side.
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
I have lived here for almost 3 years, and what brought me here...well there was this boy that I met on the internet, dated long distance with for a bit, racked up frequent flier miles with..I just decided it would be easier if I just moved here...
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
I love the diverse culture here and the scenery. I love walking out on my front deck and being able to see Mt. Baker, an active volcano that is less than an hour away from here.
My least favorite thing about living here is being away from my old life, friends, and I have only my brother here for family...
The other thing I despise is that there is alot of vagrancy and panhandling here and that those people make more money standing on the corners panhandling than you would imagine. Not too long ago, my children and I were at a McDonald's by the mall, a hot spot for the panhandlers..There was a group of them having coffee nearby. I overheard one boasting to the other that he had averaged about 35 bucks per hour, per day!!!
It is very discouraging to watch. They aren't obnoxious to people, I just think that they could utilize the job opportunity services offered here..
But I digress...
Do you feel that you belong there?
I really do feel like I belong here. I was unhappy with how my life was going back home..I had been there most of my life and was going nowhere.
I needed the change.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
That it doesn't snow here....That's what I was told, I hate snow, so that was a selling point for me.
The first winter I was here, there was a blizzard and I got snowed in. I know that they are unaccustomed to such severe weather because the city doesn't OWN ANY emergency snow vehicles!
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
They love build parks and you can NOT go a block without seeing a coffee shop!
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
That I am away from my old life....I think if I told the people back home that, they would be saddened.
Anything else you'd like to add?
Bellingham has majestic scenery whose true beauty can not be realized completely in pictures. It is a must see destination spot.
