Life and Death: It's All In the Cards

My loving wife Lisa is a fine artist that works in the medium of textiles and wax. Per the norm she works in three dimensional sculptures of the female form. Her subject matter borrows greatly for accient mythology, mainly Celtic and Norse goddesses.
Her upcoming opening is anything but the norm. This time around she has delved into two dimensions and the occult practices of the accient Tarot. With a five card hand that conveys the emotions of dealing with the lose of her farther on the first of this year.
Each tapestry or card, as it were, is 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. All hand embroidered with pieces of fabric from contents of her dad's closet. They all make a bold and powerful statement, for those that understand the Tarot's vast interpetations.
I love watching her work, from the intial sketches to the final pieces. I feed off her energy as she draws, cuts, rips, stitches, burns and melts her way to gorgeous creations.
When we first met she was working on her first show out of college. I let her use the spare room in my apartment as a studio. Since I was never there and always at the restaraunt perfecting my craft. It was the perfect setup. She had her privacy to work and I had a place to sleep a couple hours before the next shift. She also took great care of my dog and I witnessed the construction of an 9 ft tall Harpie. 13 years and many shows later, I continue to be amazed and bewillered by her and her art.
Lisa you're beautifully talented and will always have my total love and support.
