What city do you live in? What neighborhood?
Salt Lake City, UT - Rose Park
What are some adjectives that describe your neighborhood?
Turning Over. Retirement with young families. Diversity.
How long have you lived there, and what brought you there?
1 year. Was the last reasonably priced neighborhood in the valley we could afford.
What is your favorite thing about this place? Your least favorite?
The quiet. My street especially, we're on a side of a side street. The only traffic that comes down our street are those who live on it. My neighbor bought his house from the Original owner. The person across the street, bought it from his dad. His neighbor and three down the line are all the original owners. There's a sense of community, and everyone knows everyone.
Do you feel that you belong there?
Yes. We were very welcomed, and the neighbors have said they love that someone with young kids moved in.
What is the most common misconception about where you live?
Crime, violence, and gangs. Truth be told we have the lowest crime rate in the city.
There is a large immigrant population in my neighborhood, as well as adjacent neighborhoods. With immigration being a hot topic ... these neighborhoods don't get good press.
What is a special fact about your city that you have to live there to know?
Nothing much. People think we have odd liquor laws, but I've seen Kentucky's laws.
What aspect of your city do you secretly love?
The subdued quiet. There are always parts of the city you can escape to where you can be alone.
