B&W Fine ART

To start of saying that I am a writer is absurd. I'm a photographer that just happens to have fun at what he does.
With that being said let me start. I grew up a child/teenager of the 80's. Yes, so some of you know that IMHO it was the best decade to grow up in. Decadence, Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll and lets not forget the Photography.
It started out simply enough with magazines in B&W and I moved onto more artful works. Yes Playboy being one of them. But as you may think, not as some hormone crazed adolescent. I actually did read the articles and looked at the photos for what they truely were.....Art!
Then it hit me, this is what I want to do. So after years of scrimping and saving I made the jump and here I am.
I have had the fortune to work with some very gorgeous and talented models in the last few years. Well it seems these models have had a desire pose in the B&W style that I grew up with. What makes this better is the fact that I was the one they choose to venture on theses projects or should I say journey with them.
Since starting this project of B&W Fine Art/Nudes I have had more opportunities to be seen and taken seriously. For me this is a true testament to the Art world.
The models I have worked with since starting this project have all been true professionals to work with. It takes a lot to bare your soul and skin to a person behind a camera. It helps to see them thru the camera as a subject/client not just another nude body to lust after.
The actual project will be lasting as long as I have a healthy and steady flow of models that are willing to bare their souls and bodies for tasteful arts sake. I shoot it all in color and then convert to B&W in one of my various programs or sometimes leave them in color if they are to good to convert. I do however convert them all to B&W to see the outcome before final production.
The way I shoot these photos is very loose. I keep the models laughing during the shoot so that they stay at ease. I also ask them if they have ideas or variations on poses that they would like to try. Experimentation is just one of the keys to creating an image. The other key(s), have fun, be flexible, listen and most of all get to know your subject that is in front of you.
This projects stands to serve as a reminder to all that think the nude form is a shame to look upon, it is not, IT'S ART! This is how we arrived in this world and I for one hope this is how we all leave when our time comes with a big smile.
So for those of you that are reading this and thinking that this guy is completely off his rocker...your probably more right than you know. I attribute it to growing up in the 80's and having way more fun than any one should have been allowed to do. But if it were not for certain people in my life back then, none of this would have been possible. I thank you all. Just so you know..one of those influences was Helmut Newton...man was and still is ahead of his time.
So go out there and create your masterpieces to stand the test of time.
