The Ice Storm of 2008

Self-Portrait in Moonlight

My power was out for a day and a half, it was freezing cold, difficult to drive, but I was able to walk and the weather wasn't able to keep me confined inside (with no heat it was almost as cold inside as out). This is a selection of some images of ice-coated life around my home in Vermont.

The brilliance of these ice-coated forms in the Sun and Moon's rays is awe inspiring. Moving about it was magical: as if all the trees had turned albino, shimmering and shattering like giant chandeliers of ice.
