Photo Challenge: Candid Portraits
Great portraits are often shot in the moment -- when people aren't trying to look perfect for the camera.
For this photo challenge, we want you to keep your studio lighting in the closet, and photograph people being themselves in natural settings. Try to capture the revealing expressions that are only shared between friends. The tired face of your roommate as he pours cream into his morning coffee. Or your child absorbed in play.
Shooting candid portraits can be an adventure and a challenge. It's beautifully spontaneous, but anything can happen. You have to act fast to capture the moment, and make sure your subjects are relaxed enough to expose themselves to you.
Take the next few weeks to shoot candid portraits of the people around you, and show us your best shot!
