There is a certain amount of randomness to the subjects in this series, but I've had some very serendipitous run-ins lately. This was a seemingly well-to-do older woman, which you can really see in her perfectly manicured hands. Beautiful hands, actually. The title comes from the page she's reading so intently, and in it there is a glimpse into the larger story of whoever this woman is at this moment.

As I collect more and more of these photos, I'm really taken by the story the hands and the reading material tell about the person. There's quite a distinction, for example, between this woman's hands and the one in Playing for Pizza —both in the way they interact with the book and their character— that speaks volumes to me, even before I consider what they're reading.
