Since graffiti art is considered a crime of vandalism, many things about the underground graffiti scene is kept private, except the written piece itself. The men (or women) behind the gas masks go by alias’ and typically don’t want anyone to match their names to their faces.

Graffiti artists often find places that are hidden, out of public view, so they can take their time perfecting their pieces. At this highway underpass in Los Angeles, many artists come to do just that—perfect their pieces. Thousands of spray cans litter the ground and every single corner of the walls, rocks and tunnels are painted on.

This is the realm of the underground.

    Incredible photo!

Disturbingly visual; tragic for the environment, man-made as well as natural. Being an 'artist' doesn't justify destruction of stuff, either man-made or natural.

    Great documentation!

He's like a creature from another world coming out of its cave with the carcasses of spray cans littering the entrance. Love it!
