The "Great Southern Gate" once graced the center of Seoul. In 2008 it was burned to the ground. This structure was a national symbol - something akin to the Statue of Liberty for US citizens. The primarily wood structure was surrounded by a modern city skyline when I photographed it in March, 2007. I had to get low to avoid the many sky scrapers.
