Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel and afterward receive me to glory...
Psalm 73:24

The storm knocked
On our front door...
But we kept it locked
Thru' the night
Shutting out wind
That blew with might
From end to end.

We didn't know then
What lie in store
Or what to expect
Til' we opened the door
To see before our eyes,
The weeping willow tree
Had fulfilled its magnitude
Of years and great size
Paying its last due
With loving respect
And gratitude
To my spouse
And me..

For somehow it knew
Not to hit the house...
Poetry by AJP

Our friend Florence, asked us to come over today to have my husband trim off her lower branches of one of her maple trees, which won't take long, compared to the big task ahead with our fallen weeping tree willow which lost its battle to the wind on October 26th....I realize now more than ever after taking pictures last night how close we were to this tree literally and figuratively...It could have just as easily swung the other direction and hit our house with us inside crushed underneath it.

Not too many years after my husband and I moved here a wind storm did blow a huge limb from a dead elm tree behind our house over the top of our roof and it landed on the other side right next to the car...

Also we escaped injury or death shortly after our marriage during our honeymoon trip when we camped under some trees and in the middle of the night there was a tornado...When we woke up the next morning there were big limbs all around our tent but not one touched our tent...I truly believe in guardian angels.

Wow, this photo sure gives the whole story of how big the tree was and how close it came to falling on your house!!! Is sure hate it that you lost that beautiful tree! You are giving us such a good look into what will be the last of this tree with your excellent photos of it : ). The best news is that you and Dorsey and your home were spared!!!!!!!

Catholics believe each individual has their own guardian angel. There are many references to them in the Bible. I like this one from Psalms.

    Psalm 91:11-13
    For God commands the angels
to guard you in all your ways.
[12] With their hands they shall support you,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.

I'm sure both you and Dorsey have very tired guardian angels by now! :)) You have certainly been protected and blessed!

I have witnessed the work of guardian angels many times. This is a perfect example. I am so glad the poor tree didn't fall on your house. For some reason, this reminds me of Shel Silverstein's famous story,"The Giving Tree".

Tragic, but so fortunate it didn't land on your house.
