This is the the tombstone of Pvt John L. Long of Co A 140th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, II Corps, Army of the Potomac.

Pvt Long was mustered in to the Greene County Rifles in Greene County, Pennsylvania, 4 September 1862 and would see action at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor and the Siege of Petersburg before being transferred to Company D, 24th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps on 6 January 1865 and being discharged out of the Army 27 June 1865.

Though his tombstone indicates no year of his death he is buried in an unnamed cemetery on Point Marion Road in Morgantown, WV.

Pvt Long this picture is a tribute to you and the men you served with during those 4 long bloody years and the sacrifice you all made to keep our union whole. I consider it an honor to have been able to capture this image.
