Last May when I came upon this old barn that had stood the test of time for a century I was shocked at what I saw. Last year I took what was to be my last shot of this barn standing proudly.. and now it was as good as gone. Last winter`s high winds and heavy snows had finally taken their toll..

I know what you mean about the high winds of winter being destructive and this beautifully photographed barn that you shot speaks eloquently of the damage of wind ... I am glad you shot a picture of it also while it was standing proudly!

It sure did its job and just gave up! I am surprised that barns that far North would be wood instead of stone or brick

Thanks everyone for you comments.. I really appreciate them. .. Donald, all of the old barns in the area were made from wood. It was readily available at the time and there were no stone quarries or brickworks either in those days. This was a new settlement in the early 1900`s, rather isolated at that time, and they needed a barn in a hurry I suspect, just to get through the winter, so they went with wood. Thanks for your comment..
