How precious are thy thoughts...How great is the sum of them! Psalms 139: 17

We woke up this morning to see the bird feeder piled high with snow. The goldfinch flew up on the wire trellis over the feeder and was looking disgusted with its lot before I went out and dug all the snow off the feeder this morning and refilled it with sunflower seeds and dried corn.

Earlier I caught a rare glimpse of a Pileated Woodpecker ( first time ever on the suet block) but before I could get the camera he was off like like a rocket ship. I would love to see it come back again now that he knows about the suet block. They are magnificent birds and huge in size...but skittish and difficult to photograph..very perceptive of seeing movement of any kind.

This is actually two pictures that I pieced together so that you could see the snow underneath the wire that was on the feeder this morning and the sad expression on the goldfinches face tells it better than I could. It also shows scale of the size of this small bird to the amount of snow.

"Oh how much per inch...
What is the total sum?"
Are thoughts of goldfinch,
Looking down..a bit glum;
But was glad to see me
Dig thru' snow and not he.

    You got an excellent candid capture of the sad little face on the Goldfinch, looking down at the deep snow on the feeder. You did an excellent stitching job so that you could show the whole scene,

    This little beauty looks so sad, which I know is the angle of the shot..great clarity and beauty.
