This is a photo taken of a playwright called Isley, who modelled for a classical photography workshop I did in November at the National Portrait Gallery in London, led by Justin Sutcliffe. This was taken using a standard softbox light and nothing else. We were all asked to direct Isley how we wanted her to sit, and I took an opportunity to do this candid shot between takes. I the darkness and the gentle reflection of the gold top and the overall posture, added to Isley's pre-Raphaelite features lends itself well to the NPG setting.

Fantastic. The pose and colors remind me of an old world painting.
