..A land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills...Deuteronomy 8: 7

This is us 45 years ago when my husband and I went on a camping trip to Gordon, Wisconsin
in the fall of the year...These photos were shot with a little film Kodak Instamatic camera which is what I used back in those days..It was not a fancy camera and it produced small sized pictures. We looked rested on this diptych as it was the beginning of our three day trip which turned out to be more of an adventure than we anticipated. We had been married about 10 months at the time this took place.

The first night while in our tent we got caught in a tornado and woke up the next morning to trees that had fallen down all around us, but somehow had missed our tent. We rode in a canoe (that my husband made) down the river and lost a paddle in the rapids when having to dodge sharp rocks. A few times the canoe capsized..The weather turned very cold to freezing at night...We saw a big black bear along the edge of the woods next to the river bank..I think it or a raccoon stole some of our food later while we slept in the tent. In spite of having a bit of a wild trip, some of it was fun but we were happy to survive it and return back to civilization in one piece:)
