Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. Psalms 93: 2

The Monarchs are brown to orange-brown with white-spotted borders and dark veins. Wing span
3 to 4 inches.. They are seen in, fields, grasslands, and gardens.

The Common Milkweed flowers are pink to lavender, star- shaped in clusters on top of a straight stem found in fields and meadows. In bloom June through August..

Now that milkweed season is almost over we are seeing more butterflies. Ironically our woods were thick with milkweeds earlier with very few butterflies at that time to pollinate.. Most of the milkweeds are forming pods now.. I shot this picture on the open side of our woodland trail where there were a few milkweeds still flowering yet. The sun was extremely bright this afternoon and I set my exposure bias at -0.7 step.

Monarch butterflies were skittish today and rather than use the close up macro feature I zoomed in from a distance and stood several feet away so that the butterfly could eat in peace.

Light box for best viewing...Thank you !
