The roads on Jersey are typically narrow and except for the center of the towns there are few sidewalks.

This intersection is called Charing Cross, a far cry from the Charing Cross in London.

The toad sculpture on top of the pole is said to represent
"crapaud" which is the symbol and nickname of Jersey residents. Apparently the French decided to derisively call Jersey residents frogs.

The column is engraved with the 1698 code of law.
