This is an aerial photograph that I took of a narrow canyon along the Na Pali coast on the north-western side of Kauai, Hawaii. Much of the Na Pali coastline is abrupt cliffs and canyons that quickly climb from sea-level up to 4,200 ft ridges. The canyon ridges are often covered with misty clouds. The area is one the wettest places in the world with the mountain top rainforests accumulating as much as 450 inches of rain a year.

In my 20's i actually hiked all the way! Great seeing this. The vegetation on all sides of the creek (Ill call it) is so thick you cannot walk on side of waterway. I had to pick each and every footstep/jump from boulder to boulder in the creek the whole way. Its the most amazing place Ive ever hiked. Natural pools of water and all the boulders are smooth. The water is freezing cold. You could see helo's flying over off and on. The waterway splits in a Y further up and water gets heavier and you must choose betw right or left. I was alone. The risk is pot farmers, Boers, injury. You have a chance of not getting back out. Its over 15 hour hike just to get close to the end/inner interior. The clouds looking up engulf the mountain tops and there are many waterfalls that come down the sides of the mountains throughout the entire hike. Ive tried to locate the entrance the couple of times Ive went back but never could find it. It was a small dirt back road. Had to have a jeep or 4 wheel drive.
