He lifted his head away from the suet for a second when I caught this shot through the window. We had 4 inches of snow that we woke up to this morning... the weather seemed to change as quickly as the woodpecker lifted his head to pause between, bites after not having any snow on the ground yesterday.

    Thank you all for your kind words ...Because of feeding wild birds for so many years I have
    learned not to make sudden moves when photographing them as they are basically shy It is
    my favorite type of photography to do nevertheless and what I feel the most comfortable with.

    Awesome capture, love that red on the head of the bird and it is best viewed in the light box!!!
