If anyone knocked

On this old barn door

They'd find it padlocked

And not used anymore

But once it held memories

Of a child doing chores

Who opened this door

From a time long before.....

This was an old door of the lower section of a barn that was on the folk's property at the home place. I once had the job as a child of feeding a Black Angus calf that my father bought from a farmer who rented the barn ...I got attached to the calf as it became my pet and when it came time to have it butchered for veal meat...I couldn't eat it as I remembered it running to me in its eagerness to be fed:)

I shot this April 10, 2003 with my first digital camera Panasonic PV-SD 4090. It had a 1.3 megapixel sensor and stored images on floppy disk or super disk... The earlier digital cameras didn't have the highest resolution compared to the cameras that came out later but I sure took a lot of pictures with it before it wore out.

Beautifully composed with the bisecting diagonal line separating shade from sunlight. I stopped eating veal about 45 years ago after an article in National Geographic explained how it was produced.

Love the perfect shadow. The water stain at the bottom...lots of vivid detail and color.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I appreciate it. I don';t know if the old barn
is still on the property yet after Mom sold their place a year after Dad died. She went to live at an apartment. and then rest home care before she passed away....I am glad I shot this picture anyway and preserved its memory!

Yes, the textures are excellent here and the mp count does not seem to matter at all....Maybe it even adds something to the feel of the image....I'm glad you took the shot also!

A great example of what the earlier digital cameras could do.. great textures and tones! Voted. I'm not a veal eater either and I can sure understand how you felt about your calf.
