"Truly the light is sweet, and a pleasant thing to see the sun. Ecclesiastes 11: 7 "

After several days without sunshine we finally have sun and blue sky today! (Coincidentally just noticed the chapter and verse in Ecclesiastes at the top of this page has the same numbers as, the date today...)

I set a green poster mat board against the window and let the natural light shine through the plant with a cloth on the window sill...Not sure what kind of a plant this is ...It used to belong to my late mother. ..and wish I had asked her when she was alive the origin of the plant. However, the meaning of my mother's name, Helen is 'Shining Light" and she certainly was.

Does anyone know the name of this plant?

Update: After doing some research on-line I found the name of the plant is:
"Maranta Leuconeura Herringbone Plant Prayer" A shorter name is Prayer Plant

Rabbits foot? (natural light can be tricky, but the effort can be very rewarding)

    Did you preconceive the color?

Thanks for the comments! No I did not preconceive the color....I saw the sunlight glow through the center part of the cardboard background and also it reflected a green tone upon the cloth underneath the plant and photographed what I saw with the existing light!

Indeed it is a Prayer Plant and it makes a great choice for your lighting experiment.. the leaves stand out beautifully here! This looks like fun, too :)

Great Detail. It is a prayer plant I think. If the leaves close somewhat after dark and reopen in the sunlight that's what it is.
