I have read both male and female have dark brown wings with yellow markings. The underside and body are mostly yellow. I caught it between two butterfly plants that it was pollinating. Very difficult to capture as it was flighty but I am glad that I had the opportunity anyway.

A baby Eastern Chipmunk in previous picture drew my attention to what he was looking at and it turned out to be this giant swallowtail butterfly who he was in awe of. I doubt he had ever seen one before. Nature can be rewarding for both creature and humans...

Best View in Light Box! Thank you!

Thank you very much JamesHarmon McQuilkin for nominating this photo on 7/17/2018! Appreciated!!!

A gorgeous capture in every detail! They are so fast and flighty and it's a real challenge to get a photo like this.. Well done, Andrea!!

Beautiful! And such an unexpected color palette. The butterfly looks to be in formal dress!

It is difficult to capture a butterfly photo because they fly very speed from one place to another .Excellent Andrea.
