The 'Lingehaven' is a passing harbor for recreational boating in Gorinchem. The port was created by building the banks of the Linge, where it turned into the Merwede. Traditionally it was a continuous shipping route and a loading and unloading area for the city since the Middle Ages. The port complex had to be preserved for posterity. In 1981, the Lingehaven was placed on the list of protected monuments, for which the foundation was laid in 1966. It is now a national monument with number 16641. The port, with quay walls, facades, bridges and locks, is officially known as: "Object of historical significance in connection with the urban structure of the city center". Wikipedia
