I have been attempting to do a series of pictures showing the works of master artists who did Dutch paintings from the 17th Century that are presented in an art book that I bought at a library book sale, entitled, "The Age of Rembrandt and Vermeer, by J. M Nash." It is not an easy project as the pages are glossy and sometimes hard to avoid glare...I have done some of my earlier attempts over when I started out using flash...I found working with the floor lamp and existing light produces better results...Getting situated in place within 10 seconds before the self timer goes off also is not easy:-) I feel we can learn from our mistakes through trial and error while working with the light. I admire the painters of the 17th century who didn't have cameras but yet excelled with beautiful shadow and light techniques in their realistic life like paintings!

The left side of the page is entitled Isabella Coymans by the artist Frans Hall (1580?-1666)
About 1650-2. The right page is entitled "Portrait of a Woman holding an Ostrich -Feather Fan."
1665-8 by the artist Rembrandt (1606-69) I regret there is a spot of glare showing on that page
from not holding the book at the correct angle. I especially like the lighting on the left page.

Best View in Light Box! Thank you!
