I have been seeing a couple of young woodpeckers coming to the feeder together early in the morning after I just get out of bed which makes me realize I need to get up earlier also at the same time as the early birds do to get their suet container set up when they arrive:-) Of course they do return again but not always together. Hopefully I'll get a shot of them together.

This one is a young male with a patch of red in front of his beak and red on the nape of its neck...As he matures to adulthood his entire head will be red...(The suet is reflecting a yellow cast on its belly here as he is so close to it.) The female red Bellied woodpeckers only have red on the nape of their neck but not by their beak.

Best View in Light box! Thank you
