I decided to have one last hurrah in Yellowstone this spring. I have been going to Yellowstone since 1958, and I think I have been there between 50 and 60 times. That sounds like a lot, but 61 years have passed since that first visit, and I have been going almost every year since 1986, usually twice a year.

I'll always remember this visit for two reasons: It is likely my last and the weather was unusual, even for YNP, where it can snow in any month.

It was cold, windy, and empty during the two days I was just there. And, it was spitting snow. I decided to exit at the East Entrance/Exit and drive to Cody.

The road from the Continental Divide to the Eastern Entrance drops about a mile in elevation, and there are many downhill grades with curves.

As I exited the Park, I said goodbye to my old friend and thanked God for all of His many blessings.

As always, thanks for visiting my page.

The weather has been most unusual this year for spring in lots of states! The snow looks cold for May 22...You got some good memories through the years of going to Yellowstone!

I've not been back either, too many people, too crowded, not sure I will go back anytime soon. I do understand the feeling of that hole in the soul. I'd like one last trip, but at 79 pushing 80 I'm making no promises, even to myself. YNP has been good to me, I've taken loads of photos, and brought back memories and images of what it must have been like when the first white men traversed the 'land of many smokes'. Take care Richard, it has been quite an adventure. Glad to have known you.

I can't believe I missed this and am sorry for the delay in checking in! These look like very menacing conditions to drive in especially in an avalanche zone. You've captured the essence of a hard winter perfectly in these images! There is something quite magical about Yellowstone.. and I appreciate that you've share much of that beauty with us over the years!
