I checked out a Dulcimer song book from the library yesterday so maybe I'll get some pointers if I take the time to study it. I went to a thrift store also yesterday and am wearing my $4 lace black dress on sale that I bought and glad it fit as I didn't take time to try it on until today.

I learned that when holding the dulcimer ..It looked better when I partly turned it so that the front of it is directed toward the camera otherwise you don't see the strings as much from the side. I also took the strap off temporarily that came with the dulcimer as it was a little hard to do the self portrait and run into place within 10 seconds and in the process be caught up in the strap. I am a bit of a klutz!

You could say I was jamming with the House Wrens who are the real musicians that were singing their heads off as I was strumming. In reality they might have been protesting over the mistakes I made.

Thank you for your comments..I promised the House Wrens I will eventually learn how to play
the dulcimer:-) The gnats didn't do any humming along or to bite thankfully as I think I scared them away with my strumming.

Lovely photograph! I've never tried a string instrument. Looks intriguing, though. Trusting that you're having fun learning to play it.

Thank you Lizl, A number of years ago my late mother and I almost bought ourselves a dulcimer after we listened to a lady playing mountain music so beautifully in the way it should be played....The ladies husband made handcrafted dulcimers at that time....A few years ago I had an opportunity to buy a dulcimer at a music store where the owner made his instruments....It would help if I bought myself a music stand to set the songbook on while I am am learning the chords to play....It is a fun instrument ...I just need to take the time to master the technique.
