This is an infrared shot that I took with a Fuji IS-1 digital camera that I recently purchased. I've had a UVIR modified Fuji 5600 for about a year but was dissatisfied with the 5 megapixel resolution. Since I wanted a UVIR camera that was at least 8 mp (like my other digital camera) I decided to buy the IS-1 rather than get another modified camera. I'm still in the process of learning to use it but, for the most, part I'm happy with its performance.

For this photograph I used a Hoya R72. Although the IS-1 has the option to shoot in B&W, I prefer to shoot in color and convert to B&W in Photoshop. This is because I am one of the few people that enjoy creating and viewing false color images. Shooting in color gives me the option of creating a false color or converting the red scale image to B&W. Aside from converting it to B&W and adjusting the contrast, no other modifications were made.

This photograph was taken in a small central Texas town called Salt Gap. My Dad and I have driven past this house several times on the way to his ranch. I've always been intrigued by it and wanted to photograph it. I never mentioned it to my Dad, but some how he must have picked up on my interest. On our most recent trip he suddenly pulled off the road just past the house. When I asked what he was doing he said, "I'm going to see if I can get you closer to that house." Thanks to Dad I was able to photograph the house from several different angles and ranges (all in IR). I will probably be posting more of them on JPG in the very near future. I am most grateful to my Dad for making these pictures possible. THANK YOU DAD!
