If I'm not mistaken, the turban on this gentleman's head indicates that he is Sikh.

One of the biggest challenges I face as a street photographer is the matter of taming my curiosity about culture in a manner as to not come across as offensively patronizing. I'm just a very curious person. And although I live in a huge apartment building that is seventy percent Indian, I have never been able to have an Indian man pose for me. My curiosity leads me to wonder if that is a cultural thing, or if it's in my approach.

Sikhs do wear turbans, they also have a steel bracelet on the right wrist, a Kirpan (which may be concealed), and they do not cut any body hair.
