Watertown, NY: Snow, Cold, and More Snow

winter landscapes from a taxi

The town of Watertown, located in northwestern New York right on the cusp of Lake Ontario and not too much further from Canada itself, has extremely cold winters and lake effect snow. I am here visiting my sister, having traveled from central New Jersey, and let me tell you it is another world weather-wise (and everything else-wise for that matter). Taxi cab drivers wearing cowboy hats, being able to look out for miles without seeing a strip mall or a highway, and did I mention the cold? These photos were taken from a cowboy's taxi cab and I thought they really captured the essence of northwestern New York during the winter season. I do not particularly like winter as I am a summer girl myself, however it sure does look pretty through a moving car window and while riding in the seat of a heated cab.

Hot tea anyone?
