Life in the Farmyard

The voices break the silence as pens are opened and chickens scurry for the shade of the trees, pecking and scratching in hopes of a treat. Gobblers puff and strut showing themselves for the meek hen. Ducks duck, dive and splash as sprinklers green the grass. Mum duck sits quietly hidden among the long grasses hoping not to be seen as she waits for eggs to crack and young to show themselves. With strong noses and grunts the pigs dig the dry ground watched by young cattle intrigued with their antics. The Rooster lets it be known he rules the roost, with his crow, the Hens gather by his side. Dishes of water and trays of grain scatter the yards, ponds for geese and ducks to play. Siting under the shade watching oblivious to those around sits the old Tom Cat proud and Bunnies much on juicy carrots. But there is no mistaking who's king of this crowd Goosey Gander wears the crown!!
