Team Work Haying in the Field

Team Work Haying in the Field

Our neighbors invited my husband and I to a Horse pull and then a Pony Pull later with them which was interesting and fun ...What I found especially fascinating after the horse pull ended was of an Amish family that were haying in the pasture approximately 300 feet across from the horse pull track. Our neighbor called my attention to it as he saw them first from where he was standing and thought I would enjoy shooting pictures of these farmers..

It was totally unexpected and not connected with the horse pull event.. I felt blessed that I had the opportunity to capture these candid pictures. it is something I had never witnessed before....I have seen a horse draft show several years ago re-creating how farmers of yesteryear worked with draft horses and oxen but this is the real deal of life for the Amish and they were hard at work on a hot day!

Voted! Blessed is a good term to use, yes, the Amish work so hard and these candids are a great glimpse into a world/lifestyle that we so rarely see here in the USA! great work Andrea.

Fascinating to see this as old world to us but everyday for the Amish. I love your excitement at seeing this. I can imagine what an experience it must have been.

nominating my photo essay.. Yes, it was a thrilling experience to be there to capture the unexpected that I may never see again..I think what touched my heart is the peace I felt when I looked across the field and it was like seeing a vision apart from the rest of the world...The calmness of the children and their acceptance of responsibility really impressed me..The last picture on this essay of the young boy alone reminded me of a child with an aura around him, not of this world but content in his own!
