My Spooky Night in Newark, NJ

Newark Halloween

Newark, NJ - Most people know it as the car theft capital of the world. On October 31, 2008, there was nothing scary about car theft when compared to what was going on in an abandoned warehouse on a quiet street corner in this crazy city. Costumes of extreme variety, fake blood galore, outrageous dancing, feasting on treats which resembled missing limbs, a wonderfully frightening haunted house, and much much more.

This Halloween forced you to begin your night in Hell, sipping on its deadly cocktails. What made everything seem a little less unsettling was listening to DJ Roar spinning the best of old school hip-hop, rock, dance and mash-ups. Once you had built up enough courage, you were escorted to the second part of this misery-filled journey. The second part of Dia de los Muertos directed you to The Fear Factory. This haunted house came packed full of twists and turns with a scare at every corner. A mad scientist bringing a corpse back to life. A replica set of the terrifying movie, The Ring. A butcher chopping up every bit of someone you probably once knew. And finally, a group of zombies savoring the taste of brains splattered all over the floor. After your brave venture, you turned a corner to find yourself in a perfectly decorated gory bar and dance floor. DJ Dtriana, Adriana, and Mavric were spinning new wave, dance, 80's, and house all night long.

This Halloween night was sponsored solely by Hell's Kitchen in Newark, NJ. A night I will not soon forget.
