Fun With Lights

Children of the Sun

After years of heartaches and wants I finally recieved my very first dslr, my trusty old fuji finepix e500 is going to take some time off after a couple years of fine service. Anyways, back to the new camera it's an Olympus E510 with 14-42mm, 40-150mm, & 0.45x HD wide w/macro lenses, 4gb of memory and a slave flash needless to say I'm in amateur heaven. I get this camera in the mail on Monday and I have to work all week ( I work 12hr grave yard shift) ,It's Killing Me, I'm lying in bed taking pictures of the textured ceiling just to here the click of the shutter. Finally friday rolls around Its time to have some fun, come to find out my parents are taking the camper to Dripping Springs State Park down around Okmulgee, OK; which by the way I've never been to. With the anticipation building to an almost unbearable point I'm rushing around at the last minute to gather up everything needed for a weekend trip to a lake; camera : check, lenses : check, Tripod : check, Memory card : check, Laptop : check; alright we got everything lets load up! ...almost to my parents house, DAMN I forgot my clothes and toothbrush. Finally about an hour later the camper leaves my parents driveway ..were on the road (just 1 1/2 hrs to go) 30 minutes later I'm starting to feel my childhood rush back too me "Are we there yet" even slips out of my mouth. eventually we get to Okmulgee, Alright were almost there!! then 15 mins later; after one of the most windy roads I've been on in Oklahoma we finally emerge at our destination. I unload my gear and start snaping pictures. I'm like a kid in a candy store I take 1500 pics on friday alone ( I think I'm gonna need a bigger harddrive). I turn every knob, push every button, and change every setting oh, how its nice to have options. After hours of picture taking I finally go to sleep and Saturday's sun comes up, it's cold and windy but sunny with potential, we open up the windows in the camper and two bald eagles are sitting about 150 yards out on a tree in the water, amazing, I had never seen one before, and here I am staring at two of them. When we left on friday I never dreamed I would be taking pictures of bald eagles as some of my camera's maiden photos. Well this alone was enough to make the trip worth while and memorable, but what happened after the sunset was probably the most fun you can possibly have with a flashlight, halloween mask and a camera. Anyways needless to say, I love my new camera It's everything I dreamed it would be and more and I hope you enjoy the crazy pictures
