Anfield Central Hotels: A Photographer's Liverpool Stay
A warm, personal shortlist of central Liverpool hotels near Anfield - waterfront, Georgian and Liverpool ONE corners for photo-walkers.
The Vantage from the Waterfront
The old river photographs of Liverpool almost always frame the Liver Building from across the water, funnels and cranes crowding the edges. Stand roughly in that spot today and the building is still the anchor, though the dockside around it has been smoothed into something tidier. Two hotels sit close enough to make that comparison without much walking.-
Photos
7.6- roughly 4 km from Anfield, sat opposite the ferry terminal with the Mersey practically at the windows; the Collage restaurant's river view is worth the stay alone (see rooms and rates).

8.6- about 4 km from Anfield, tucked into Princes Dock with boutique rooms that feel more date-night than business trip; the Liver Building is a five-minute stroll, which made my own photo comparisons far easier than expected - worth a look.
Where Lime Street Anchors the Frame
Lime Street turns up in nearly every old civic photograph of the city, usually with the station roof as backdrop. The street has shuffled its shopfronts more than once, but the bones of the junction are still recognisable. These three hotels cluster around that same stretch.-

7.1- roughly 3 km from Anfield, the grandest of the bunch by a distance, with high ceilings and function rooms that have clearly hosted a century of weddings; parking round the back is a small mercy in this city - read more.

8.1- about 3 km from Anfield, a straightforward five-minute walk into the centre, with a grill restaurant that does the job well and a 24-hour desk that never once left me waiting when I called down for something (official site).

8.3- about 3 km from Anfield, and the only property here that lists the stadium itself among its nearby attractions; the waffles at breakfast are the thing former guests mention to me most, and this Hampton stay is an easy, reliable pick on a match weekend.
The Liverpool ONE Rebuild
This is the frame that's changed the most. Where old photographs show warehouses and working docks, Liverpool ONE now shows glass and footfall; the vantage survives only if you know roughly where to stand. Three hotels here put you inside the rebuilt frame itself.-

7.4- about 3 km from Anfield and built more like a flat than a hotel, with its own kitchen and a terrace looking over the rooftops; if you're hunting hotels near Anfield with room to spread out, this is the one I'd book first.

7.3- roughly 3 km from Anfield, snug and unapologetically simple, with air-conditioned rooms and a vending machine instead of a bar; I'd call it the no-fuss base for anyone who just wants a clean room between walks.

9.2- about 3 km from Anfield, right on top of the shopping streets with city views from the rooms and staff who'll greet you in English, Spanish or Portuguese; see it here ->.
The Georgian Quarter, Still Standing
The Georgian quarter around Hope Street is the stretch where the old photographs and the current street argue the least - the terraces are largely intact, just cleaner. It sits about as far from Anfield as everywhere else on this list, so staying here is as much about the architecture as the stadium.-

8.9- roughly 3 km from Anfield, set in a quarter that has barely changed shape in decades, with a spa thermal journey that's a genuinely nice way to recover after a long walk; if you're searching where to stay near Anfield with a bit more polish, start here.

8.0- about 3 km from Anfield, a quieter, clubbish little hotel with squash courts and rooms full of antiques and local art; it's a ten-minute walk into the centre and a good option if you'd rather not stay somewhere that feels like everyone else's hotel - details here.
