‘Opihi is considered a delicacy in Hawaii. Picking ‘opihi is usually very dangerous as they are usually found stuck on rocky cliffs where the ocean is very rough. My boyfriend can spend hours at a time picking ‘opihi. After eating them, he spends even more time sanding and buffing the shells which he then turns into jewelry.

Limpets. We used to eat these in the Azores as well. Some were orange/pink on the inside and some were grey but we always ate them fresh and raw.
