My Favourite 4-Star Hotels Near nib Stadium, and When to Stay

There is a corner of Perth where the river curls around a football stadium, and it has had my heart since my first visit. This is my little black book of the four-star stays I would happily book again - each one chosen for the moment it serves, because in Perth the when matters as much as the where.

Where the stone and the water meet

East Perth reads like a photographer's palette: pale limestone at the Perth Mint on Hay Street, brick lanes down to Claisebrook, glass towers mirrored across the brown sheet of the Swan.

My game is reading surfaces, and every material here wants its own hour - limestone forgives midday, water sings at dawn and dusk. nib Stadium sits in the middle of it, minutes from the Mint and the river path. Start from the light: the Perth hotels & apartments listing is the easiest first page.

The surface that owns the morning

Mornings belong to water. Walk the river path as the sun lifts, loop Heirisson Island while the kangaroos graze quietly, and watch the Swan turn gold for a whole hour.

Then the Mint: the gold pour has been running since 1993, and the new 521.2 kg record bar is worth the short walk from the stadium - bookings essential!

About 7 km from nib Stadium and only 1.5 km from the domestic terminal, with self-contained apartments that have full kitchens, a private balcony or patio, and a spa and wellness centre with hot tub waiting after a cold river-morning walk. The surface that owns the evening

Evenings belong to glass and copper: the Bell Tower's copper-and-glass campanile holds the last of the light, and over on William Street the comedy crowd files into the old Rechabite hall.

Their November is lovely - David Nihill on 11 November, Lucas Zelnick on 16 November. Doors open early, so time dinner before, not after. What did guests always ask me at the desk after midnight? Whether anything was still open - which is exactly why I eat first.

   Quest Innaloo - my favourite of the four, and the one I book for show nights! About 12 km north-west of nib Stadium, this 4-star aparthotel puts kitchenette rooms with balconies and streaming services a short drive west of Perth HPC in Mt Claremont, where Morgan Jay plays in early November and Two Door Cinema Club bring The Vaccines in mid-November. Guests rate the location and cleanliness highly; ask the desk about a late checkout when the encore runs long. Book through 4-star hotels near nib Stadium for the studio layouts.

The big bowl in summer light

Summer shifts the light to the big bowl across the river. The West Test, Australia v New Zealand, fills 9-13 December 2026 at Perth Stadium from 10:20 am - white clothes, hard glare, a morning surface if ever there was one.

Time it with the Matagarup Bridge arch - climb it or zip down - then let the floodlit Boxing Day Big Bash be the evening version of the same theatre.

The calendar, when to come

If you are asking when: November is the comedy fortnight, December belongs to the Test and the Big Bash, February brings Perth Festival and FRINGE WORLD spilling through Northbridge, and March sets sculpture straight onto Cottesloe's sand - 5-22 March 2027.

I always come in the calmer weeks either side of the peak; same limestone, same light, more room to breathe.
